“Celebrate Peace!” is a musical and theatrical benefit for Jane Addams Peace Camp. The family-friendly event takes place on Saturday, March 9th from 1-3pm at the Resource Center for Nonviolence, 612 Ocean Street, Santa Cruz.
Participants will include The Santa Cruz Peace Chorale, led by Aileen Vance, the Unitarian Universalist Just in Time Choir led by Gail Swain and local singer-songwriter Freesia Raine & Friends.
Also performing are the Peace Camp Youth Leader band and Teen Improv troupe “Water the Weeds”, comprised of students of A.F.E., a Santa Cruz home-school program, under the direction of Joya Winwood.
Peace Camp campers will offer a lovely variety of treats for sale at Intermission. Admission is sliding scale $10 – $20 at the door, $5 for children.
All proceeds support Jane Addams Peace Camp, an annual summer camp for school age children & youth, whose mission is to discuss and live the themes of peace, care for the environment and for each other through music, dance, art, crafts, games, & nature exploration.
This year’s Peace Camp takes place August 5th – 9th from 9am – 3pm at the beautiful nature-based campus of Orchard School, located on Trout Gulch Rd in Aptos. Registration info & brochures will be available at the benefit.
