This week I visited the Aptos Community Garden to plan for a composting workshop there. The garden is in its third year and is lush and beautiful. Members can lease up to two plots (a few are still available), build their own raised beds if they want, and grow whatever vegetables or flowers they like. It’s a great opportunity for gardeners or would-be gardeners who don’t have the space.
Take a look at the web site (link above). It’s full of information and gardening tips.
The Board (the garden is a non-profit) wants to start composting garden waste. That’s where I come in. I’ll be putting on a composting workshop in August to help get them started. We’re doing it as an exchange through the Time Bank (see my last post).
